Wraparound services for young adults including housing, mental health, substance use services, employment, and education support.
VOA Alaska’s Transition-Age Youth (TAY) Services provides outpatient behavioral health and support tailored for individuals aged 18-24.
The strength-based and person-centered program can provide outpatient mental health and/or substance use only services, or include comprehensive wraparound services to help young adults achieve self-sufficiency, including Supportive Housing.
Three Phases of Support:
-
- Stabilization, crisis support, and peer groups to build wellness and connection.
- Clinical services, employment, education, to build independence.
- Graduation planning and transition to self-sufficiency.
Having someone in my corner, even when I didn’t think I deserved that, meant so much. You showed me that I was worth it. I couldn’t have found the strength by myself.

Supportive Housing for Young Adults in Anchorage
Together with our community partners, the Supportive Housing program aims to address houselessness at a younger age and make the experience rare, brief, and one-time. The program operates as a “scattered-site model,” placing individuals in private market apartments throughout Anchorage.*
If a youth qualifies for a housing voucher, the search for housing begins immediately upon entry to the program. Every step of the way, they are provided wraparound support from the TAY Services team to promote healthy recovery and long term-housing.
Qualifications for Supportive Housing
- 18-24 years of age.
- Meet the US Department of Housing definition of houselessness.
- Lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.
- Referrals must be made through Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness Coordinated Entry process. Our team can conduct a screening and assist individuals with getting onto the list.indivi
*The Alaska affiliate does not own or operate any housing units. However, a program with the VOA National office does operate four affordable housing properties in Alaska. Click here to learn more about Affordable Housing with Volunteers of America.
