

Sara Rasmussen is a wife, mother, and 5th generation Alaskan who served in the 31st and 32nd Alaska Legislature. She was elected in 2018 as a State House Representative for House District 22, where she was an active member of the House Resources, Labor and Commerce, Transportation. In her second term she served on the House Finance committee. During her tenure, Sara was known for her commitment to champion issues for children and families, and co-chaired the Children’s Caucus, as well as the Alaska Women’s Caucus.
Currently, Sara is the Director of Government Affairs at GCI, one of Alaska’s leading telecommunications companies. In this role, she has successfully navigated the complex regulatory and legislative environment to advocate for policies that benefit both GCI and the broader community. Notably, Sara played a pivotal role in passing legislation supporting the school Broadband Assistance Grant program increasing school speeds to 100 Mbps.
When she isn’t working, Sara enjoys watching her kids swim and play soccer, gardening, biking, running, or swinging clubs at the golf course with her family.
