You are not alone. VOA Alaska’s Family Services team supports families raising relative children as well as ALL families with youth in our care.
From youth early intervention to caregiver and family therapy, our team is here to support you and your family. And with our home-based services, we’ll come to you! See below to learn more about the support our team can offer your family.

Youth Early Intervention & Support
For youth in Kinship Care and other enrolled youth without a behavioral health diagnosis or treatment plan.
Our team uses evidence-based practices to teach healthy coping mechanisms and how to manage life’s challenges.
Youth and their families will learn how to resolve problems, modify behavior, and make positive changes in their lives.
Home-Based Family Services
Provided in a family’s home or throughout the community, these services include treatment and wrap-around care for the whole family.
Our team provides case coordination and referral, peer support and navigation, and skill development. Youth and caregivers will learn life and social skills, conflict resolution, self-regulation, and problem-solving.
Family Therapy
Focusing on helping families function in more positive and constructive ways, family therapy explores communication while providing support and education to develop common goals, learn conflict resolution, and heal together.
Sessions are conducted at the VOA Alaska office and can include the youth, siblings, kinship caregivers, and parents (when applicable).
Individual Therapy
Youth receive support for a range of needs, including depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol use, suicidal ideation, anger management, and severe mental health or substance use disorders.
Caregivers receive support surrounding loss, roles and boundaries, bonding, anger management, resentment, balance, and child-rearing practices.
Kinship Care
Family Support and Engagement Group
From the moment you begin services with VOA Alaska, you are not alone. To explore the family dynamics of recovery and healing in a safe and supportive environment, VOA Alaska holds a weekly family support group. This is open to ALL families, including those who are not currently enrolled with VOA Alaska services.
The Family Support & Engagement Group meets every Wednesday evening from 5:30 pm to 6:30pm at VOA Alaska’s midtown Anchorage office. The group provides an opportunity for parents and caregivers to connect with peers, share experiences, and learn more about support and resources available to them. Children are welcome!
