During their annual meeting in October, VOA Alaska’s Board of Directors selected Lee Post and Jackie Engebretson as Board Chair and Vice Chair, respectively.
Lee Post joined the VOA board in February 2022. He is a lifelong Alaska, growing up in the Mat-Su Valley. He spent his career working with youth, with roles ranging from staff at private childcare and treatment facilities, a social worker with child protective services, to a Juvenile Probation Officer for the State of Alaska. He retired as the Chief of Juvenile Probation for the Anchorage area in 2021. Lee is an illustrator, art educator, and graphic recorder with PostMarks, LLC.
Lee shares that “it’s an honor to serve as the Chair for VOA Alaska’s Board of Directors. I have a long history working with VOA Alaska, going back over twenty years during my time with the Division of Juvenile Justice, working together to provide youth in crisis with treatment options and a healthy connection to their community. I’ve witnessed the organization grow and improve, becoming more effective and creating lasting change. I’ve repeatedly met adults who describe how VOA positively impacted their lives in ways they never thought were possible at the time. I look forward to continuing to work alongside VOA Alaska as it improves the lives of youth, our communities, and the State of Alaska.”
Jackie Engebretson joined the board in August 2022. She is Ahtna Athabascan, and her family comes from Gulkana Village. Jackie is the Director of Behavioral Health at Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium and has extensive experience in the substance use and mental health fields. Most recently, Jackie’s specific areas of expertise are historical/intergenerational trauma, opioid use disorders, and medication-assisted treatment.
Jackie shares that she looks forward to “serving as VOA Alaska’s Vice Chair and working collaboratively to ensure Alaska’s youth and families are supported. I especially look forward to collaborating to strengthen relationships with Tribal and rural communities.”
Dr. Lisa Lindquist, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Providence Medical Center, continues as Board Secretary. Audrey Lance, Manager of Audit and Taxation at Thomas, Head, & Greisen, continues as Board Treasurer.
VOA Alaska’s Board and Staff would like to share their immense gratitude for the outgoing Chair, Don Winchester, and outgoing Vice Chair, Carmela Warfield. Thank you, Don and Carmela, for your leadership and your continued commitment to serving Alaska’s youth, young adults, and families.
