At VOA Alaska, we believe people can recover and heal from trauma, mental health concerns, substance use, and other life challenges. We believe in serving the whole person. We acknowledge that all people are worthy of wellness and humbly work to grow in a way that meets the needs of our community.
Our strength-based and person-centered services promote wellness in all areas of a person’s life. Those in our care steer the course of their journey. We walk alongside them, providing connection and services designed to help them achieve their most meaningful goals.
We believe healing occurs within relationships. We foster healthy working relationships with the people we serve. We encourage family and natural supports at every step of the way. Recovery is most successful when people have support in their homes and communities. We see personal healing as essential in family and community healing. We are committed to promoting a healthy community for all to live and thrive.
Our evidence-based and culturally responsive programs strengthen and build upon a person’s foundation of well-being and resilience. We seek out opportunities for growth. We stay up to date on practices that support children, teens, young adults, and families. We respond to our community and individual needs by offering a full continuum of care.
We understand and honor that treatment success looks different for everyone. Success may be complete remission, or it may be a reduction of symptoms. We see resilience as key and believe our services foster that resilience. We define resilience as the personal qualities and the external supports that enable a person to recover from adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or other stresses. Resilience makes it possible to live life with a sense of purpose and above all, HOPE!
We are honored to be a part of the healing process of all people, families, and communities we serve.
