Julia Luey joined the VOA Alaska family in 2018 to pursue her passion for serving Alaska’s most vulnerable, our children. She has been in the field since 2008, when she first fell in love with the substance use and behavioral health field in her work with women with children. Julia pursued education, professional counseling certification, and leadership development to continue her career progression. She has experience in most direct-service provider positions throughout the layers of a behavioral health organization. Throughout her experiences working in the adult and children sector, she identified the need for stronger youth programs in our State, and she was drawn to VOA’s mission and vision. Julia has a Bachelors in Psychology and holds the following national counseling certifications: Chemical Dependency Clinical Supervisor and National Certified Addiction Counselor I. Julia is currently pursuing her Master of Nonprofit Administration at Notre Dame University, with an expected graduation in 2026 Throughout her experience and education, Julia believes in the power of connection and hope and is motivated to spread this to the youth and families VOA serves.
