Stefanie Goggins holds a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling. She is currently accredited by NBCC as a Nationally Certified Counselor and awaiting licensure. She worked in schools as a special education counselor before becoming a case manager for adults who needed mental health therapy, struggled with substance misuse, and permanent supportive housing. At VOA Alaska, Stefanie works in the outpatient setting providing youth with individual and group therapy, family therapy, and behavioral health assessments to access services. Stefanie is passionate about her role at VOA Alaska because of her own family history with substance misuse. Growing up, needing someone to talk to and help her process her family environment was a piece she didn’t have until she became an adult. Outside of work, she likes to distract herself form everyday life by reading books, hiking, and occasional Netflix day. Stefanie has two children (10 and 13) and 3 pets ( 2 cats and 1 dog) who keep her busy with Alaskan adventures and enjoying hiking therapy and healing.
