In 1998, Michelle began working in the healthcare industry in leadership roles related to quality assurance, compliance, and customer service. Over the years, Michelle obtained a Masters in Business Management, and in 2012 was the recipient of the President’s award at ANTHC for her involvement in strategy planning and improving Customer Experience outcomes. In 2013, Michelle decided to take a break from the healthcare world and spend time at home with her youngest child. In 2016 the family moved from Anchorage to Eagle River, and coincidentally, very close to the ARCH location. Michelle reached out to ARCH and asked if she could volunteer teaching yoga to the clients, and started doing so twice a week. Months later, it was discovered by chance that the “yoga lady” actually had the credentials and years of experience in management, compliance, and strategic planning to advance to a leadership role with Administration and Compliance. Michelle always thought that when she decided to return to work full time, it would be at a hospital, but she has fallen in love with the vision and values of VOA Alaska, and is thrilled to contribute to supporting the hope, health, and healing of every Alaskan. Michelle enjoys yoga, snowboarding, camping, and any activity that involves spending time with her family.
